Where Excellence is a Way of Life

 

Our mission at P.S. 86 is to create within students the abilities and self-confidence essential to the development of high academic skills by using enrichment/intervention strategies along with multi-entry points for all learners across all subject areas.

 

We seek to provide a challenging curriculum with flexibility to meet the needs of each student by using informal and formal assessments throughout the year. We firmly believe that all students can and will learn. We encourage students to take full responsibility for their learning while enlisting the collaborative efforts of peers, parents, teachers, non-teaching staff, and community leaders. This joint effort will ensure excellent achievement for all.

 

P.S. 86 models itself as a school community where all students will meet and exceed the standards. The parents, staff, and students will share in the process necessary to make students life-long learners and productive members of society.

 

Advancing student engagement in a digital world by providing tasks that require students to  use academic vocabulary and critical thinking skills for discussion and writing in a blended environment in order to prepare students with the tools they need to be successful.
