Principal's Message

Dear Students and Members of the P.S. 86 Community,

 

Welcome to the PS 86 Bushwick Magnet Multimedia and Arts Academy website. We invite you to explore and learn more about our school and the rich academic, artistic, and social programs we proudly offer. As principal, my goal is to ensure that every student receives a high‑quality education in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to provide meaningful learning experiences that encourage collaboration, critical thinking, effective communication, and a genuine love of learning.

 

As we begin another school year with a strong focus on family engagement, our Special Events Committee has planned a variety of activities for students and their families. Photos from these events are shared on our website throughout the year. We are committed to opening our doors and creating opportunities for parents and guardians to be active partners in their child’s school experience. The culture we have built, rooted in trust, respect, and collaboration among students, families, and staff, is something we value deeply.

 

We are extremely proud of the steady growth in our student achievement. Instruction at P.S. 86 is grounded in small‑group teaching and project‑based learning, both of which promote high levels of engagement and empower students to take ownership of their learning. Our students engage in dynamic multimedia learning experiences, including creating podcasts, producing news broadcasts, and exploring photography. In addition, they benefit from full‑time music and dance programs that nurture creativity and support a well‑rounded education.

 

We encourage you to read with your children, ask them questions, and engage in conversations that spark curiosity. Please remember to check backpacks daily for assignments and notices, and ensure your child arrives on time, in uniform, and ready to learn.

On behalf of the entire P.S. 86 staff, thank you for your ongoing partnership. We look forward to seeing you at one of our many family events this year. We are grateful that you entrust your children to us each day, and we remain committed to providing the educational experiences that will prepare them for college, careers, and a bright future. The vision of each student as a successful adult guides every decision we make.
