City Council’s Participatory Budgeting process 🤑
Dear School Leaders & Neighbors,
We are very excited to announce that—for the first time ever—our district will be participating in the City Council’s Participatory Budgeting process (PB)!
We are partnering up with Council Member Jen Gutierrez (D34) for our first Participatory Budgeting Assembly. This will take place on October 6th from 6-8pm at Bushwick High School (400 Irving Ave, Brooklyn NY 11237). We'd like to extend the invitation to parents, students and PTAs. Please RSVP ↗️. We will be hosting more Assemblies throughout the district in the following weeks.
Through Participatory Budgeting, community members like you directly decide how to spend at least $1,000,000 in capital funding in our neighborhoods. The PB program funds physical infrastructure projects that benefit the public, cost at least $50,000 and have a lifespan of at least 5 years. Local improvements to schools, parks, libraries, public housing, streets and other public spaces can be funded through this process.
In the meantime, if you have an idea about how things could work better in our community, share it on the PB map! Check out the guidelines ↗️ to see what ideas can be funded. Once you have an idea ready that fits the guidelines, add it to the map! ↗️
